Alexander Busby is currently the Assistant Director of Bands at Wayne C. Schultz Junior High School where he teaches 6th - 8th grade band classes in a program with over 300+ students. Prior to this position he was Director of Bands at Columbus High School in Columbus, Texas.

Most recently Alex has presented at the 2025 North Carolina Music Education Association (NCMEA) professional development conference in Winston Salem, NC this past November. He presented along with his wonderful colleague Molly Griffin-Brown a session titled "The Three C's of Classroom Management". They have since been invited to present this session at the 2026 Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) professional development conference in San Antonio, TX.

 

In 2023 he was named a quarterfinalist for the Grammy Music Educator award (selected as one of 207 out of over 1,500 submissions) and added to the 2023 Marquis Who's Who in America. In August of 2022 his article on “Project Grow Music” was published in Teaching Music, a publication by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Mr. Busby and “Project Grow Music” received the 2022 FMEA Exemplary Model Project Award at the 2022 Florida Music Educators Association Professional Development conference in Tampa Bay, FL. Mr. Busby has been published in the national professional instrumental magazines Flute Talk , The Flute View and Teaching Music (a NAfME publication).

 

During his time as Association Director of Bands at Oviedo High School he was named Teacher of the Week, was awarded multiple grants from The Foundation at SCPS, Grants for Great Ideas, worked to restructure the band program by adding a third large performing ensemble and was part of the 2021-2021 OHS Leadership Academy Cohort. Mr. Busby directed the Director of the Symphonic and Concert Bands, taught Group Keyboard/Music History and assisted with all aspects of the competitive 5A Marching Lions and concert band program. During his time at OHS the marching band competed in marching band festivals, MPA, Bands of America regionals and Florida Marching Band Championships.

Prior to his appointment at OHS, Mr. Busby taught woodwind methods and applied flute and saxophone as part of his graduate teaching assistantship at East Carolina University. As a national and international performer, he has performed throughout the states of Texas, Florida, and North Carolina as a freelance musician, as well as in concert halls in Shanghai and Suzhou, China and Taipei, Taiwan. Mr. Busby has participated in extended programs of study at the University of Taipei (Taiwan), New York University Steinhardt School of Music, and the Dalcroze School of Music and Movement.

Mr. Busby received the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, magna cum laude, from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the Master of Music degree is Multiple Woodwind Performance from East Carolina University. Mr. Busby has studied all five woodwind instruments during and after his formal education. His principal teachers were Dr. Christine Gustafson (flute), Prof. Sheryl Goodnight (flute), Prof. Bo Newsome (oboe), Prof. Christopher Ulffers (bassoon), Dr. Douglas Moore-Monroe (clarinet) and Dr. Jeffrey Bair (saxophone).

在加入 OHS 之前，Busby 先生曾在东卡罗来纳大学（East Carolina University）担任研究生助教，负责教授木管乐器教学法，并指导长笛与萨克斯管的演奏实践。作为一名活跃于国内外的演奏家，他不仅以自由音乐人的身份在德克萨斯州、佛罗里达州和北卡罗来纳州各地演出，还曾在中国的上海、苏州以及台湾台北的音乐厅登台献艺。此外，Busby 先生还曾在台北市立大学（台湾）、纽约大学斯坦哈特音乐学院（Steinhardt School of Music）以及达尔克罗兹音乐与律动学校（Dalcroze School of Music and Movement）参与过深造学习项目。

 

Busby 先生以優異的成績獲得 Mary Hardin-Baylor 大學的音樂教育音樂學士學位和東卡羅來納大學的多重木管樂器演奏碩士學位。 Busby 先生在接受正規教育期間和之後學習了所有五種木管樂器。他的主要老師是 Christine Gustafson 博士（長笛）、Sheryl Goodnight 教授（長笛）、Bo Newsome 教授（雙簧管）、Christopher Ulfers 教授（巴鬆管）、Douglas Moore-Monroe 博士（單簧管）和 Jeffrey Bair 博士（薩克斯管）。
